Optional Practical Training (OPT)

 

F-1学生有责任遵守所有移民法规，包括 employment regulations. Working without the proper authorization is a serious violation of nonimmigrant status in the U.S. If a student fails to comply, he or she may not 有资格获得通常授予F-1学生的福利，并可能危及他或她的工作 her stay in the U.S. Prior to accepting any employment in the US, students should consult with the Office of International Student Services.

• Employment Related to Major. OPT旨在通过提供一种方法来提高F-1学生的学术课程 gain experience in his or her field of study. The USCIS considers working in a job that is not related to his or her major a violation of F-1 status.

• Applying for:
  • Pre/Post complete OPT—use “permission to accept employment”
  • STEM OPT Extension—use “renewal of my permission to accept employment”
